Improv Sketch & Standup Comedy Talent

Keven McDonald
​
Kevin Hamilton McDonald (born May 16, 1961) is a Canadian actor and comedian. He is a member of the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall, who have appeared together in a number of stage, television and film productions, most notably the 1988–1995 TV series The Kids in the Hall. He played Pastor Dave in That '70s Show, and starred as a co-pilot in the 2011 web comedy series Papillon. He also does voice work in animation, most notably as Agent Wendy Pleakley in the Lilo & Stitch franchise, Waffle in Catscratch, and the Almighty Tallest Purple in Invader Zim.
He starred alongside Rodney Dangerfield and Dom DeLuise as the titular character in the gangster parody film The Godson.

Mid-City Live!" is a one-of-a-kind variety show featuring original skits written by Baton Rouge’s only local sketch comedy troupe, as well as comedy stand-up sets from the entire cast. "Anything is possible with this diverse group of comedians; be prepared to witness the silly, political, absurd and outrageous," says host/performer Gloria O. McConnell, who also produces and directs the show.

Tee’s act has been described as ‘Observational Humor, with A Twist’ and as ‘Self Deprecating…but he always comes out on TOP!’ He has a Master’s Degree in Sarcasm, and a twisted view of the world! An ordinary trip to Wal-Mart, or McDonald’s can become a twisted, humor-filled tale!

Two for the Road crafts gripping improv centered on honest and powerful relationships. Improvisers Sarah Brown Rankin and Nico Zaunbrecher fully embrace the duo dynamic, shaping stories around the always transforming space between "I" and "thou." Sarah and Nico started improvising together over 20 years ago while attending the University of Louisiana Lafayette with iconic student troupe, Cult of the Stage Monkey. The pair's collective obsession with improv has never waned, with Sarah training at the Annoyance Theatre in Chicago, and Nico obtaining his doctoral degree in Communication through research on the subject of improv from Southern Illinois University. Currently, Sarah resides in Houston, TX, where she performs improv with Hodge Podge AF. Nico currently resides in Lafayette, where he serves as Artistic Director of Silverbacks Improv Theatre.


Justin Russet is a North Carolina-based comedian (via the DMV). Sharing his feelings in his humor, Justin helps you laugh at the subjects and ideas you might normally shy away from. He's performed at venues including The State Theater (VA), West Side Comedy Club (NY), Goodnights Comedy Club (NC) and The Dead Crow Comedy Club (NC) opening for notable comedians like Tony Woods, Nate Jackson, and Lawrence Owens.

JQ Palms is a prominent stand-up comedian and improviser known for her witty delivery and parody songs. Her brand of comedy has been described as “stupid in a good way.” JQ was a featured comedian for the premiere opening of Comedy House New Orleans in June 2021 and has been performing there ever since. She’s an improv teacher at the New Orleans School of Comedy Arts and she teaches stand-up comedy classes at Boomerang Comedy Theater in Baton Rouge. Her weekly podcast with comedian friend Ryan Rogers is called "Seen Partners" and can be found on Apple Podcasts.
JQ has been a headlining performer at Hell Yes Fest, LGBTLOL Fest, The New Orleans Comedy Festival, The Bayou Boogaloo Festival, Thalia Women's Comedy Festival, and Fete du Void. She recently toured the southeast with fellow comedians Matt LaRocca and Ryan Rogers for the second annual "Fat Tuesday Comedy Tour."
She is a mainstage cast member of the weekly improv comedy show called "Swamp City" and the ladies-only improv troupe "You"re Invited.”

Matthew is a comedian from Mandeville Louisiana who is quickly making a name for himself in the New Orleans comedy scene. He has been a featured comedian in the successful Hell Yes Fest comedy showcase two years in a row, opened for national touring comedians Natalie Cuomo, Dan Lamorte, and Sean Patton, was awarded “Roasters Choice” award at the Roast Fantasy League, and was named as a Breakthrough Comic to Watch in 2023. He has been featured in newspapers and podcasts, and performed at the legendary Laugh Factory in Chicago. He looks forward to touring in 2024 after a successful run in 2023.

Bringing their decades of combined experience to the stage, Silverbacks specialize in Narrative Improv, weaving stories that range from comedic to dramatic. Silverbacks also produce a monthly Improv Showcase, SuperCollider, which features Acadiana improvisers, sketch comedy, and standup comedians and regularly hosts visiting troupes, from Houston to New Orleans. Hailing from Baton Rouge, LA, Will Merrill has been performing stand-up comedy for over 12 years. He has performed across the gulf coast and has worked with touring comedians like Dulce Sloan, TK Kirkland, and Bob Kelly. In 2012, he was a regional finalist in the Stand Up, It’s Miller Time comedy competition hosted by Kevin Hart. Alana J is an actor, comedian and teacher originally from NYC. She’s been seen on CBS’s Blue Bloods, and Power Book 3 on STARZ, and is the co-creator of the BET Digital Series Two Grown. In 2018, she was one of 9 out of thousands to be selected as a US Finalist for the ABC Discovers Digital Talent Competition. In 2022, her talents took her across the pond to perform as an actor and comic at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she opened for Chris Gethard. Trevor Chapman
Trevor is a Lafayette born, Spanish-Mexican raised comedian, actor and producer. His comedy is an energetic wit about his life’s experiences. When not on stage he is talking to himself in a park or acting out foolish characters.

Marla Eyvette Massie is a standup comedian, actress, writer, and producer. When she is not serving up food and drinks at her day job, you can find her serving up jokes and laughs on stages all across the country. She travels extensively and has performed from Portland, OR to Portland, ME. In February 2021, she and several other up-and-coming Black female comedians were panelists on "Room For Discussion: Mentorship & Black Women in Comedy", as part of a joint collaboration with Facebook Messenger and Variety Magazine.
